firefox_ssl_logo.jpgHey folks this tweak will help you login eve SSL 2.0 website which you are not able to in Firefox 2.*. Its safe that Firefox doesnt allow SSL2 secured websites due to thier weaker security but I really dont like my browser judging what sites I visit and what I not. Hope you already know about it, if not tried yet This is what you get when you try to logi into a SSL2 secured page

Well my ISP provides an old style brower client to get access to internet ad uses SSL2, so its damn necessary for me to login on that page. I tried to search all the available options but didnt find any. Then I did it in the classic style - using about:config

Scrolling through the list I found a few boolean entries which seemed to be related to SSL2. SSL2 is the encryption method which my ISP uses. SSL3 is the new technology and will eventually replace SSL2. Anyways, I decided to switch their vales and see what happens. All of them were set to false. I changed their values to true. and tried logging in again.

Voila!!! I am now connected.

I decided that there will be many users facing this problem, so here is a step-by-step procedure to do what I did.

  • Start Mozilla Firefox
Type in about:config in the address bar.
  • Now in the page that comes up type in “ssl2” in the Filter textbox. You will get something filtered options. Now set them all to true, like this (click for a larger image) :

  • You are done. Now try opening whatever site you were trying to open earlier.
